What is this?

    Does anyone know what this is? It is heavy metal, and hoping the photo shows what looks like a spot for a bar or a wooden dowel to hold something - maybe a towel? Yes, it is from a farmhouse. IMG_9828.jpeg IMG_9829.jpeg
