What is this tool?

    Got this tool on a lot of stuff. Not sure what it is or used for or how old. Stamped K 171 inside handle. Any help would be appreciated.

    What you have looks very similar to a valve spring compressor tool but the ratcheting teeth are going the wrong direction for that. I would guess it is for something related but I don't know for sure. @KingofThings might have an idea. :)

    You were so close for that is what I first thought until I reasoned out the direction of use. I've seen these at friend's garages who have such cars but didn't know its use for sure. :)

    I'm thinking the number is a casting number and not the tool number. But I'm always wrong anyhow - :)
