Featured What is this thingie - a calendar? A compass?

    I just picked this up at an estate sale. It measures 3.5" x 2.75". Inside is a latin inscription: AMICIS, QUALIBET HORA, which translates to "friends at any hour". It seems possibly to have some connection to seafaring? It's also marked 19-Universal - XL Talquera - 86. amicis2.jpg amicis1.jpg

    Any thoughts?

    I just want to point out, in case you haven't examined it carefully, that it provides a list of cities on the same latitude. Fun contemplating. Montreal and Venice? How can that be?

    Yep a sundial
    Yep a sundial, not sure if 19 & 86 is the year it was made. Talquera translates a compact or powder dispenser. I would say a compact sundial.
