Featured What is this plaque made of, plaster? Age?

I am trying to determine what this is. Is it just a poured plaster art plaque? Is there anything to tell you anything about it? Is it called sculptured? I am by no means up on art but it looks like the subject matter is Italian Renaissance. It is signed but I cannot read it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. I am at a total loss.

 

The signature is "Clodion, original name Claude Michel, (born Dec. 20, 1738, Nancy, France—died March 29, 1814, Paris), French sculptor whose works represent the quintessence of the Rococo style." I think the technique is Bas relief.

 

Likely plaster and may depict Venus in her dove-drawn chariot.

This appears to be the same piece. Identified as plaster and signed Clodion. Difficult to see subject matter but Venus very likely or Aurora.

Good catch. You're right. This is very weird. The Invaluable ad tells the materials and maker and has the same photos. What's going on here.

 

Maybe Alynn was the winning bidder?

 

Why would they ask who was the sculptor? Clearly that was part of the ad.

 

Maybe because auction house did no research at all & added that it could be 'C Lodion' & OP wanted other opinions? Dunno, will have to wait for correct answer.

 

Sorry all, I was gone all day. I was the winner and totally forgot it had an artist listed on it. I still do not understand other than what the title said as I want to sell it, is it vintage, poured, what do I call it to sell it? Thank you and sorry about my forgetting it said that. I forgot where I bought it it actually.
