It is a framed puzzle and there is this wooden backboard with vertical grooves depicting I guess European architecture? The borders are key frets. Is this something decorative?
    Thanks

Backing looks like some kind of decorative wall paneling c. 1960-70.

Yup that's what I was remembering too. Maybe they had some laying around and used it as a backer for the puzzle.

    It's Neuschwanstein Castle isn't it?

I had nothing else to buy and threw few dollars suspecting that it may go back to the TS.

The Schloss Neuschwanstein castle/palace. It is a 19th century "Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Fussen in southwest Bavaria, Germany." In 2001 I had the *displeasure* of walkinggggg allllll of the 300+ stairs to get through the wholllleeeee thing. Once started you have to go the wholeeee way, no turning back. :( The "palace building has 5 floors, so you'll have to go 165 steps upstairs, and 180 steps downstairs." It is one of the prime tourist stops on the way between Munich, Germany and Vienna, Austria.

I lived in an apartment in Boston in the late 60s that had awful mural paneling in the bathroom. Thank God I only lived there about six months. I can't remember what it was, but do remember I hated it.

    Hi Bev,
We have lived similar lives. My first house I bought in 1965 had that awful paneling in the bath but only half way up. The bottom half had wonderful beadboard paneling. I ended up wall papering the top (ugly)
half with pages from a reproduction Sears catalog from 1909. That too was a big hit????. That was the year of my wall papering craze. My library floor wood floor was a mess with dog stains and goughes. I had it sanded and redone, it was still ugly. I wall papered the floor with a medium size brown and white houndstooth plaid and covered it with three coats of varnish. The paper "took" the shape of the boards and everyone thought I hand painted the design on the floor. The varnish yellowed so the white was a tan color.

Greg I like the sounds of the floor actually, did you?

I had a kitchen that I wallpapered with fake old newspaper ad wallpaper, late 1970s as I recall. I found that I'd be staring at it reading while I cooked or did the dishes LOL!

    Hi,
I loved that floor and the funny thing about it was the 2nd owner after me advertised it as a hand painted floor 12 years later.

I attended that same '60s party!! The decor ranged from early American to sputnik outer space. Some of the awful "stuff" was passed off as stylish back in "them thar days." Those styles were not only in furnishings, but also in clothing, hairstyles, etc.

Ohhhh, Bev, Boston in the '60s!!! You were there during the terror of the Boston strangler! :jawdrop: My, wasn't that a time. I was living and working in NYC during the early '60s, and married setting up housekeeping in the latter half of the '60s in the South.

The Boston strangler sent shivers down my spine. I remember the Manson killings here in Ca. in 1969...our serial killers began in the 70's. :arghh:
