What is this missing? Is it some kind of unfinished art project?

Ok so it is a mirror. Right. It has a wire for hanging on the back but it seems really incomplete. Looking at the cuts of wood on the back I think maybe even homemade? Would this be like a bathroom mirror or something similar? I think shaving when I see it. Like I could see a man using it for shaving. 1940's maybe?

 

I think it is correct and complete. Art deco circa 1930. Depending on size, it could be a shaving mirror.

 

If it's small then for shaving I'd say.

 

Oh yeah I forgot to add dims. It is pretty small a little over a foot tall and maybe 10 inches wide. That is a guesstimate. I haven't actually measured it but it isn't huge. Thanks! It just seems so plain. Like there should be more down the sides or something.

 

1) Looks like Tramp Art too.
2) Of these I have seen, most are generally simple and small which makes sense because they had to be packed up and transported from place to place in times when there weren't mirrors everywhere. I've seen many pictures, mostly Civil War, where an officer has one hanging on the tent to shave. I think there's even one of President Lincoln doing so. Se this in Western movies too.

 

The style is meant to be this way.... pretty minimalist. It does look a bit like tramp art but I think more likely just inspired by Aztec or Mayan architecture. At that size, I do think a shaving mirror.
