Featured What is This Long 13" Vintage Metal Tool w Hammer Like Head?

Hi guys,

I found this long 13" metal tool at an estate sale and was wondering if someone could tell me what this is and what it's used for? The head is attached to the round metal rod.

Yes I was wondering the same thing when I looked at it. Was this piece welded to the rod or was it bought like this?

 

the two pieces seem at first glance incongruous ....... but figuring out what it actually is should dispel that............ maybe...

A plunger. of sorts....??
but I can't find a matching hand pump.......

 

Could this tool be some sort of Drum T rod? It looks similar to it??

I see a valve wrench

For reasons unknown someone sawed off the end so it's no longer a valve wrench. That doesn't make it a hammer, hammers of that sort are really hard, this is/was a wrench. Yes, it was welded to the rod.
