What is this? Elephant tusk?!

    Need to see the base please. I think I can see some resin blobs but need more pics to be sure.

    Yep, I see really many resin blobs in the flowers! Vote resin without seeing the base, happily no elephant was harmed in the making!;)

    Wow so its a mould made from resin and then carved?? Or sculpted using resinous? Cool! It does have heaps of tiny spherical shapes. Did make me wonder how it would have been carved so perfectly. Its very bone looking, but to tap on, it does feel plastic like

    Cast in a mold, the original that the mold was formed from would have been carved at some point, but not this piece.

    Original was likely carved from wood or ivory. Cast in resin from a silicone mould made using the original carving. The blobs and often pinholes appear and they are a giveaway for resin.

    Ivory/teeth and should have schreger lines and ivory fluoresces under UV light. Experts can actually tell you which animal the ivory is from by the way it fluoresces.
    I am leaning to a man made material based on the bubbles.
