what is this candelabra made of?

I am quite fond of this decorative item but there are things about it that irk me. Is the silvery finish on it original? Did someone try to scratch it off...there are a lot of scratch marks on it... on the bottom and on one of the arms a copperlike material shines through. It is not magnetic.
Is this a late 19th century/early 20th one?

 

the casting looks crude and poorly finished.....and maybe someone hoping it was silver also scratched it up....

 

The only thing the magnetic test tells you is that the alloy used in this casting contained no iron.

I vote for spelter aka pot metal, for which there is no "recipe."

 

It looks new too.

 

don't think it is new, but not extremely old either, the screw holding it together is very rusty, but I think the part inbetween the arms is a replacement, or maybe the whole piece has been reassembled from old and newer parts...
Is zamak an option?

I'd have called it Early Pier One. That's not a bad thing; Pier One used to sell seriously cool stuff back in the 70s.
