I’m new here and was wondering if you can help shed some light on some antique artifacts and painting I got that are really interesting. One I think is blade of some sort as it has on its tip a special marking where it would make contact with someone. Other is either painting or photograph of baby girl looks like a Mona Lisa baby picture but has is sitting on a chair with a all seeing eye and the white paint seems like code as none are the same?

    Welcome to the Forum, Mickey!

I’ve enlarged your photos, please check the box for Full Images in the future.

You’d be better off put the Paintings in our Art Forum.

The little girl might be a photo, or print?

Please read the pinned thread in the Art Forum, for what is best to provide in the way of photos.

The little girl seems to be sitting in a chair from the Craftsman Period - the 1st decade or two of the 20th C. It's likely a hand drawn and colored photo enlargement.

I suspect the blade is a modern thing based on archaic prototypes.

Hey thanks Izorizent your a real sleuth. I think your right about both although the baby pic is still intriguing as she is sitting on a Masonic throne chair and if it’s a photo wouldn’t it seem more real personish life like? Or did photos back then resemble paintings?

I can't remember the name of the technique, but essentially the artist would do a wall projection of a photo onto a piece of paper and then draw and color the image using the projection as a template. It's not unusual that this type of picture looks a little odd. I'm not seeing a Masonic throne, just a fancy chair for the time. I think the "all seeing eye" motif isn't that, it's just a coincidental bit of decoration. If it were Masonic and ceremonial, there would be a lot in the way of Masonic symbols.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

see all those holes, bubbles, pot marks , on the base....
it's made of a resin , cast into this shape....sold as a tourist/decorator item....maybe from the 80's...but it could be newer...

( in the future...start a new thread for different items, as in a couple of weeks this item will get lost in a slew of newer posts and no one will ever find it again...specially since the title is Yue Blade.....)

    just a hint.......
