Anyone know what this is? I think it's made of aluminum - or maybe put metal? and has the craziest glass eyes I've ever seen! I thought it may be a door stop because it's too scary for a child's toy - but I don't think it's heavy enough.
It does have a single screw holding it's two halves together just like a Hubley door stop - could this be a Hubley?
    It measures 10" long x 9" high
    Thanks!

It appears to pot metal. How heavy is it?

It could just be exactly what you said it was...a strange, lightweight metal dog, with scary eyes?

You need to correct the "Red Eye" on your camera.

It looks like a wide nosed fox with canine hip dysplasia.

I'm sure it scares off more bad guys than a guard dog does.:wideyed:

100% agree. Just have the head peering through the drapes in your front window and you won't have to worry about intruders or even solicitors.

Is the screw to add gravel or sand to weigh it down thus becoming a door stop?

If you are able to weigh it down, as mentioned, then you can be definitive in what its purpose is...yes, it's a door stop! :D

Believe if bearing its original paint it wouldn't look so weird - Hubley did cast in both iron and aluminum, or perhaps a repro (is that rust on the back foot - could it be iron with aluminum paint?). Here's an aluminum one sold on Etsy, same size, oddly with screw on the front: https://pin.it/6MwI096, and an iron one on Worthpoint with good paint, no mention of glass eyes and a really long description: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/antique-cast-iron-doorstop-hubley-1791207538

[QUOTE no mention of glass eyes

The eyes might very well be an added addition by the previous owner.....

The one identified on Etsy as aluminum does mention glass eyes...

Journey's looks to have been painted with "radiator paint."
