What is the stone in this silver necklace?

    Hello,

This actually belongs to my mum, she picked it up recently and wondered what the stone is and I wasn't sure, so any thoughts are welcome! It is marked 925 on the back and on the clasp.

I did wonder about hematite as it has the almost mirror type sheen of that stone but it is less grey and more black in colour. Then I thought of onyx, but though it too glassy for that!!

Sorry it's not an older piece, but I will make it up with another that I picked up recently, which I am hoping is more interesting for you all!

TIA for any help you can give.

    The stone is probably onyx.
The necklace looks like it was made in Jaipur, India. They make some really nice jewellery.
