What is it Optical device ?

    Almost it's an Opthalmascope for testing eyes thank you for the clue much appreciated.

    Hello Brubaker50...the spike 2prong item is a draughting/ drafting ink pen...should have a bakelite or plastic sleeve over spike end, a shorter one would have substituted as a second attachment for the pencil side of a compass...regards ..pewter2

    My first thought too is that although it works optically, its use is more like that of a pantograph, a way of projecting an image onto paper so it can be outlined & drawn.
