What is It?? - clock weight??

    Found this in a box of bits and pieces. Can't figure out what it is. My best guess is a weight for one of those chain driven wall clocks. It's got what may be a makers mark on the side but I haven't yet looked up a brass makers marks list yet (if such a thing exists). Any ideas anyone. Size 9.5cm high 2.5cm (1") round and 175gms.

    Yeah. I kind figured it looked like a Davey lamp but couldn't work out why it had such a large hook on it or why/where you would put/hang it. Got me beat.
