    Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

    Hi all,

    I have my suspicions but was always told it was 18K......period!!! It's a LONG, heavy chain (about 18 inches) with an even heavier anchor hanging from the center......but I'm mostly interested in the meaning of the imprinting!!! Once again, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!!

    Oh, BTW, it says " AGA, circle with a C inside, 18KP ", and each link is a GOOD 3/8 inches long..........

    Plumb gold means it is at least the indicated fineness.

    Well, talk about learning things from this board. I have never heard of plumb gold and would have read this 18KP as 18K plated!
    Doh!

    I think the carat mark with added P for plumb is an American thing.

    Good to know. Most of the stuff I see here in UK has CT instead of K but KGP is definitely gold plated and I would have assumed this was too.

    Before the "Gold Act" was amended in the 1970's 14K marked gold could be 13.5,18K would be 17.5. Now marked 14k should actually be 14K and with the addition of the"P" behind the K the purity is guaranteed by the manufacturer.

    Stunning, I'm glad I clicked.:nurse::dead:
    Your mother should have moved to the Netherlands, 5'10" isn't considered tall here.
