What do I have here? Pic heavy

Hi,
I’ve held onto this necklace for quite a bit. Not sure what to think of it. The clasp says vintage I don’t know what to make of the disc shaped objects. They are all various sizes and not uniform. I think I see schreger lines on the tiny off white beads The turquoise, or whatever, is so light. Do you think it’s dyed something? The brown balls react to UV like amber and the netsuke is signed.
Any idea on age, origin, or anything else? Would this be a cheap tourist piece?

Interesting. I don’t know enough about it but it looks like a crafter put some unrelated beads and clasp together, it all looks slightly uncomfortable together.
The ivory doesn’t look old or are the photos slightly over exposed so they look whiter than they actually are?

These necklaces were popular in the late 1970s-early 1980s, and they weren't cheap.
Not tourist stuff, they may not even have been sold in Japan, but fashionable.

The netsuke is probably the same age as the rest of the necklace, and not considered a real netsuke. Cute, especially the way he peeps through the beads, but not top quality.

 

I do have harsh lighting but I didn’t fool with any of the photo settings. There is a bit of age related coloring going on in some places. I agree it’s an artisan piece or homemade. Kinda cool and odd all at the same time. Lol
