    Chinese cloisonne lamp base?

    Cloisonne. How big? Wonder what happened to the bottom? If it was a lamp base, I would expect to see a drilled hole, not a missing bottom.

    You see threading in the top,so I vote lamp base too. The bottom must have gotten misplaced,but I bet it was wood.

    Huh. Didn't notice the threading. Missing the base that it sat on -- trying to make a vase out of a lamp instead of the (usual) other way round?

    There was no shot of the bottom so it's hard to say if someone made a vase out of a lamp or a lamp out of a vase.

    Whoops. I'm not seeing signs it was cut, so it was probably always a lamp. If the OP wants, he could just sit a column glass vase inside and put water/flowers in that.
