Featured What do I do with this snake head brooch?

Just won the auction but already start to worry. It’s a conversation piece from a typical Victorian Ouroboros collar, please give me some inspiration on how to wear this! Do I pair it with a chain or beads?

I just came up with the idea of pairing it with a big silver chain, so it will look like a full skeleton with a golden head…

I had my eyes on it, considering to restore it as a hairwork bracelet it once was!
The tip of the tail went in the mouth as a box clasp... the two parts were soldered together as a brooch when the hair band went damaged.

 

Yeah I saw another example with woven hair body, but do you plan to use your own hair?

as it’s soldered now, the easiest way is to find a chain/string with two loops on end

it also has a dent on forehead, do you have any suggestions to fix that? Like, stick something underneath and gently push outward, would that work?

 

old tools frequently have a rounded end on the handle which are perfect for this .
you can't go wrong laying your brooch on a soft thickness of cloth and pressing hard in circular mouvements.
