Featured What did I buy this time - oil pastel, seems to be a Dutch scene

    Some of the pastel transferred to the glass despite being double-matted. Does anyone know when this was done - 1996 or 1896? And whodunnit? That's a long shot, but for $7.50 I figured it was worth it. It's not great art, but the colors will look good over my fireplace for a few months. 100_0124.JPG 100_0123.JPG

    Could be. The hats fooled me. It was framed in New York State is all I know. Hey @Any Jewelry - I'll bet you know. (and may well have seen the calendar art the artist used to base the picture on too.)

    I think this might be loosely based on a Paul Gauguin painting.

    Bingo. Copy of a fauvist original. So... good living room decorator art.(LOL) The framing on this cost more than I paid for the whole thing, so still think I did OK.
