Okay, I posted this in the art section, but maybe someone here knows because you guys did a great job on the 800 silver cameo brooch famous people.

    What artist could this be?

What time period/culture could this be? Greek? Macedonian? etc.?

    Thanks! Vorpal Sword (640x622).jpg

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I see hints of Greek/Etruscan/Macedonian; I also wondered about Finnish and Etruscan, but I didn't turn up anything helpful.

Several things that I expect will figure in the solution...
    *The horse's very stylized head.
    *The shield.
    *The curly hair.
Nothing on the reverse is helpful?

Pretty! Lots of emotion and movement.

For what it's worth , I think it's a stylized rendition of an Amazon warrior depicted in Greek mythology. Contrary to popular belief, there were warrior women. Archaeology discoveries have found evidence of them.

"The Greeks located them in the areas north and east of the Mediterranean on the vast steppes of Eurasia. Archaeologists have been digging up thousands of graves of people called Scythians by the Greeks. They turn out to be people whose women fought, hunted, rode horses, used bows and arrows, just like the men."

This could be a replica of something archaic, but that's not the sense I'm getting. I think it's a modern fantasy piece, inspired by ancient design. Nice photo.

    Is it gold?

Yeah, Picasso reached out and smacked me on this one..... can't find anything like it in his artwork. It is just base metal. Thanks!

Bev aka thelmasstuff Colored pencil artist extraordinaire ;)

Chalk downs horse in England. I would also guess a modern iteration of Boudica.
