Hi all, new to the forum here. I just wondered if anyone could identify these items and their estimated auction/antique fair value. I have lots of other items that I need to identify, however I'm not sure of the rules just yet. For example 1 picture per post etc.
Suggestions so far include Anglo-Japanese/Aesthetic movement, ca 1870 for the mirror. and 1960's Persian for the chair, and Edwardian for the 3 panel glass screen.
That sounds about right to me.The chair intrigues me,is it metal ? Its hard to tell from the pic. I was thinking more Spain.
I'd like to see the panels in that screen up close with maybe a white sheet behind the glass so the flowers show. The inset flowers on the top of the mirror - is that fabric or wallpaper? I'm fairly certain it's not original because it's country style and the mirror isn't.
I don't really see anything Japanese/japonisme about that mirror/shelf unit. Perhaps a closer look might show me something that would change my mind.
The mirror appears to have come off of something. Might have been a dresser. May have been the back of a what not display. Possibly English. Bakers - the only thing lending itself to Japonica is the black lacquer.
Definitely looks like Miss Piggy in upper right of the screen-may help date it. Clearer photo of the chair back will allow someone to get the country of origin based on the costumes.
It does have a Russian / Slavic look. Are there any markings on it? Is that fabric on the back and seat?
