What Are These & What Is Missing

    Hi,
I picked this pair of what I thought were modern andirons and since coming home I realize they aren't.
Not sure what they are made of but a magnet is attracted to them and they are very heavy. The figures are 12"H, the bar piece at the bottom is 10"L.
They had plastic bags wrapped around them that said 'Do Not Discard Assembly Hardware and each bag contained 3 screws that are 1 1/2"L.
They don't stand-up on their own - the square bit on the end of the bar is at a point when you stand them up (hope that makes sense)
There is no holes for screws on these, so I suspect I'm missing some pieces.
    Any ideas appreciated!
    thanks for looking

I'm not sure what they are but the leverage on those mounted to a wall is substantial.
They are bizarre though. I'd have bought them too!

Sounds like someone must have discarded the assembly hardware. Even though they were instructed not to!

(No idea, but I would have gotten them too. They are interesting.)

    Wait for others...

Thanks KOT and Lucille:), I think they are cool too! I can't see these being mounted on a wall due to the weight - but I've been wrong many times before.
Guess I'll have to do a check at the store tomorrow to see if I can find anything that looks like it might belong to these guys!

Assuming there is no other info on the bag that said "Do Not Discard Assembly Hardware"? No company name or anything?

Now that I'm thinking about it, another reason there has to be something missing. I don't think a company would refer to a couple of screws as "Assembly Hardware".

Also, I might be wrong, but are those wood screws? Maybe wood is involved somehow.

    These are a stumper!

No marks anywhere that I can find.
lol, sorry Lucille, I wouldn't know a wood screw from non-wood screw:) (which is why I don't fix or repair things)

Amazing, thank-you Anund:) They are Global Views 'Looking At You' and 'Looking Where I've Been' wall art.
KOT, you were right about them being mounted on a wall and I was wrong:)
How would they attach to the wall?

Thanks again Anund! Might be hard to sell since they are missing the brackets? Or maybe one could be made?

Global Views might have them in stock, or one of their retailers.

Depends on how you would use them. Seems to me there should be a clip that mounts to the wall for each of them. Are there holes in the edges?
If not I would carefully, this is cast iron don't forget!, drill an appropriate sized hole in the upper and lower points. You may find it better to step up in size until you have the size you want. Do this just inside the thickest parts but consistently placed in them both.
If they were just to hang at any point on a wall you could use a Molly in the upper and a plastic anchor in the lower. All the load here is in pull-out at the upper mount.
If you can hit studs you don't need anchors.
I love to use drywall screws but they have their limits. If they were to just hang on their own they would be fine but you have to hit a stud.
I would paint Phillips or square drive screws, with good sized heads, black and be sure they are at least an inch into the stud.
Make a different pattern for each one and pre drill a hole the same size as the screw shank, NOT the threads, into the wall and the stud if you hit studs.
I suspect these can be used as shelf brackets though the shelf and items should be light if not utilizing stud mounts. Even then don't overload them.

Blue tape a plastic grocery bag across the upper edge so it bulges out a little and mount it just below where you will drill. Move it as needed then carefully close it up and dispose of it.

Wow, Anund! Amazing you found similar. Well done.

Nice price on the linked set, too CX. Clearly you saw the quality in them.

(KOT, I'm going to need to hire you next time I need to install something!)

Those are "really neat!" I do like them.

But I would like some help, being too dam dumb to answer my own question. .

Where the heck do you put them where you're not going to bump into them and
    un-enjoy some bodily damage?
