They are 1" high and have a hole on the bottom and a flat shelf like top. I'm wondering if there was something else hanging down that was used as a drawer pull. They were in the bottom of a box lot.

Yes, I'm sure there was something attached to those as you always keep the open end of a horse shoe up for good luck. The wide head fasteners (screws/bolts?) scream drawer pulls.

Could be my eyes, but does it appear that there is something broken off of each of the ends opposite the tiny loops? As in maybe they are the ends of broken drawer pulls (handle type)?

I think they were some kind of tassel pull; the missing bit was probably made of fabric and it's rotted away. I don't see anything broken off the other end.

To me as well. these could be the ends of handles with the center part broken out. The holes would be for set nails, used for effect.

Mansons, I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out. Doh. I also didn't notice they looked like horseshoes. Scrap metal pile at the dump.

Thank goodness you have the sense to get rid of them............I would decide that they were broken, could never be fixed, are utterly useless, get to the waste basket and then decide that they could PROBABLY, SOMEDAY, be used for SOMETHING and into the box of like rejects they would go.....where they will sit, cluttering the basement, until my landlady has to clean the place out...............

I've more than made my $5 back on other items from the lot. I do have a hard time tossing anything, though. I'm always sure that one day the thing I throw out is going to be the very thing McGyver would use to do something fabulous. You know, just in case he stops by.
