Featured What are these camel shaped burners for?

    Pair of metal camels, 6 inches wide, 3 inches tall. Metal is not magnetic, I would say possibly pewter or aluminum.

    What is their purpose, and is there something missing to cover the wick ? I can't see how any glass chimney would be stable.

    How 'bout for burning scented oil? Camels...an' their folk...can be somewhat odiferous, methinks.

    The wick and collar look similar so some of the alcohol burners I just looked at. Maybe it is just missing a metal cap. But why an alcohol burner shaped like a camel?

    The scented oil idea seems like a good possibility.

    Does look like the same logo, sans cartouche. 1920s likely given camel theme. Company closed in 1930 according to internet.

    Maybe they are just plain old decorative oil lamps - I would guess they don't have a specific purpose. Or to keep mosquitos/bugs away outside - did they have citronella oil back then?
