I found a set of these, and they look like chinese Yixing clay to me, so similar to the many tea sets you see. But these all have covers, and hollow centers. Does anyone have a clue what these are for? Does it cool your tea or soup or something else? Any other thoughts?

Thanks, that is definitely it. But I spent some time with google, and still don't understand how they are used. I thought maybe I could see one being used on youtube, but only saw the teapots. Why the hole? Has anyone ever eaten anything served in one?
