Weird but gorgeous table clock

Hey folks!

Sorry to bother you with this one. I think you are going to say it's rubbish, but I bought for very cheap from auction in Sweden (only bidder obviously) because I just liked it even though what's inside is not great
A guy from auction said that the clock itself is 19th century, but inside is quartz hehe. It's just a very nice design element to my countryside home.

Is it brass? Is it French or some modern copy? It does look old outside. Marks underneath mean anything?

Clock is super heavy and measures about 35 cm (14 inches) in height.

Certainly meant to be in Rococo taste. Seems to have a pendulum. Does the modern movement set it swinging?

 

Looks like a fairly modern (possibly somewhat vintage, but not antique) reproduction. The casting does not look very good. JMHO, but this is not an area of expertise for me.
The face doesn't appear like it ever had holes for winding with a key.

The casting looks like pot/cast metal that was sprayed (well to me)

The battery is the giveaway! Not old at all

 

Sometimes the innards are replaced. That was the consideration/possibility here.

 

My point was that I highly doubt that anyone would retrofit a battery movement into a priceless antique clock! Just sayin

 

You'd be surprised at what people do.
