Any idea if the scene is based on a story or myth? Still researching on the artist Roland.
    Thanks

I have no advice on that.
I am going through a period of not being able to sell a 10 dollar bill for $5.

Myself, I would keep it. He may do something in the future that would excel his sales and popularity.

He past away in 2009. I feel like it will be long time before his art increase in value. Unless some kind of buzz is created or his painting hit some of the big auction houses.

When I have items that inspire such thoughts I put them up for sale online with the fixed price that will give enough margin to make it worthwhile after paying any commissions, fees etc., and leave it there for as long as economically feasible. Often a beginning collector or someone who simply likes buying my stuff will buy it within 6 mos. or so. I have a couple of customers, one in NC and one in CA, who simply like the stuff I offer online and have both been buying a couple of items a month for over 15 years. No matter what online auction site I'm on at the time, they find me, and of course I give their purchases special expedited service.

Oh, did not know that. Yep, those would be you're only hopes then for increased value.

Don't confuse "book value" with what you might be able to sell it for, which could be either less or more than what his paintings seem to bring now. An item advertised with slickly-worded description, right keywords, great photos can definitely exceed sale price expectations, but by locking yourself mentally into some book value you lose the chance to make money.

Say you paraphrase the artist's bio in your description and for whatever reason a bidder takes the time to read it and something in the bio strikes a chord with the bidder, maybe it mentions a place the bidder lived, etc., then he may buy it. If you put thought, imagination, research, and skill into your sales listing, the results on average will be a lot better. Be sure to include the artist's lifespan years and a statement such as "now that this gifted artist has departed, his works are certain to increase in value, and here's your chance to acquire a great example at a bargain price, before..."

Look at other listings for unknown or "undervalued" artists works and get ideas, look especially at completed listings for unknown artworks and if any sold for unexpectedly high prices, see if it was due to a slick professional-quality listings.

If you simply post a few average photos and say it is a painting by Joe Schmuck, and that's all, unless Joe is in high demand, you are just wasting your time and your listing fees, and would probably make more money flipping burgers at Micky D's.

There is a large number of followers of anything to do with D&D and other related games from that time.
    Dice, books, etc..
And then there are people who like to collect "cover art".
But I think it has to do with the generation that played it, and they are now in their 30s & 40s, so I don't know if hanging on to it will help, or hurt.

OK Messi, what's up? The other day you posted the Motorhead vid, which caught me off guard, I just can't picture you as a speed metal head, and just now you post a Micheal Moorcock science fiction book.

Is it pure unadulterated coincidence that you posted these or do you know the DIRECT connection between the two posts?

I'm betting coincidence but ohhh what a coincidence it is.:)

    Purely coincidence, Don.
Or, perhaps, a combination of being the mother of a 44 year old guy (who is very "into" thrash metal, played D&D back when they said it would lead them all to hell), and being part of a family who has always loved Sci-Fi.

The leader of the band is a guy named Lemmy. Before Motorhead, back in the seventies, he was in a band called Hawkwind. I was a fan. Lemmy was a close friend of Micheal Moorcock. Their Album "Warrior on the Edge of Time" is inspired by/dedicated to Moorcock. Many of Moorcock's Sci Fi books are dedicated to Lemmy.

I believe they remain close friends to this day.

Very interesting! I had no idea.
My son probably knows though. I will have to ask him.

The Hawkwind connection inspired me to track down a couple of Moorcock titles. They were kinda off the wall.

This connection is among the more obscure of Rock arcania.;)

  18. Just wondering.......wouldn't it be a good idea to buy a copy of the book also for the future sale of the artwork. ebay has one BIN very reasonable. I would.
