I bid on an item via a serious German site (lot-tissimo) back in May and paid for it just a few days after auction. I didn't receive anything till now; they don't react on emails.
seems that other people had problems with this shack as well.

    Was it these guys? https://www.eastbourneauction.com/

I'd be contacting our Trading Standards here. Let me know if you want details. Preseume you paid credit card, so you can charge that back.

yes, it's these. but they didn't charge my credit card because -after them - they couldn't because it was in €. I was wondering a bit about that because I asked them if they'd send to France before I bid. in the end I made a bank transfer from my Swiss bank account, because there I can wire money in any currency (well, not Rhodesian dollars, but most...). I saw a "critical" report online where someone was capable of getting some help by the "Sussex Standard" but have little hopes being abroad and the price only being 70 £.

That's very fishy. No reason your card could not be used. Trading Standards will be VERY interested. And if you want to, you could actually make a Small Claim online. It costs a little, but it would avoid others being ripped off.

This is the council's Trading Standards Office. http://www.eastsussex.gov.uk/atoz/heading852.aspx Usually pretty helpful. Message me if you want any phone calls made. ;)

thanks a lot for the offer, owned, but I don't invest any time anymore in such modern hoodlums; the remaining time is too precious.
although: when I recently was in Britanny, I saw there were direct ferry lines to Eastbourne, so I could have had a little Kristallnacht there...

    Like it. ;)

But do please email TS if you've time. They'll add it to any evidence they have already. They can do and will prosecute.

sis I'm okay. although never my old self after the four by-passes they tinkered into my body last year...
besides that I feel tired of all those people that make a living by ripping off others.

Oh gosh sorry to hear about the by-passes and the lingering issue. I hope things get better.

DH is going through some major health things right now and it does change your perspective considerably.

I certainly understand his attitude about wasting time pursuing such a thing very far. In the U.S. we say "life's too short for that" even if we think we have many years remaining.

Our company has been fortunate in dealing with good auction houses selling for us recently-very satisfied with both-Julia's in Fairfield, ME. for higher-end items and Redding in Gettysburg PA for lower-end items. We researched both beforehand by asking acquaintances who had consigned to them. We asked about how honest the seem to be, what their payment turnaround time is, etc. Redding has gotten popular with buyers and sellers, their next gun auction in August is already full so we have to wait a bit to send more stuff.

spring, I normally do that as well, checking the auction houses out when buying stuff for a certain amount.
but here I was led astray by the site they were allowed to list their stuff on. lot-tissimo was originally intended for German-speaking auction houses only, and you had to hand in a copy of your passport that you were allowed as buyer. recently it started to deteriorate because brick & mortar shops esp. from Eastern Europe and other countries were allowed to list.

it's actually very very unusual to get an auction house here behaving like this. Especially if you look at the kind of thing they're selling. Which is why I do think it's worth having a go at them, but I entirely understand why fid isn't. I've dealt with small local places, who are impeccably well behaved and with larger ones who are equally so. Literally everything from £2 junk lots to Christies!

    so, "good" news.
after I paid a first invoice of some 70 £ on the thirteenth of May, they now send me a second invoice of over 80 £ for the postage without isurance but signed for. the item was a ceramic bowl of 24 centimeters diameter and certainly not weighing more than 3 kilograms (all units metric this time...).
in French they'd go under "abruti"...

PS: just for the fun of it I tried to pay once more by Mastercard - no chance, blocked off on their side of the system.

Sometimes I wish we had the something similar to the "Like" function to express sympathy! Dealing with them sounds like a royal pain. :(

what makes me sick, is their behaviour and the time lost by dealing with such dorks. in every email I was asked to phone them - how should I make sure it's not another og their tricks and paying ?
they might eventually be okay to sell stuff over the counter, but should certainly not deal outside their small town. not to mention internationally...

The could sent by courier for 18 to 20 pounds. That price is insane.

It's pretty appalling. I wonder if it's worth flagging this to LAPADA.

I wonder what they would charge to send the item to me for onward transmission?
