You know, despite how good some of those Indonesian imitations out there are, there's a sophistication and control in these pieces that is hard (for me, at least) to exactly pinpoint, but is overall quite impactful. They have presence.

Indeed. And balance, and originality within stylistic details that are specific to the artist's own specific cultural band, rather than just being generic "NW."

If it is a good piece, with some experience, one should be able to say not just "NW Coast" but "Nuu-cha-nulth," maybe even take a guess at the artist.

Hahaha nothing wrong with that. Gorgeous pieces. Harder to find in the states.

 

I'd say very likely Glen Rabena; the rim on the bottom I've seen on another of his pieces. I've got a seal mask I could compare signatures on, but not easily available at the moment.
