Hi, all! I think Walter may be able to help me with this. However, if someone else knows, all help is appreciated! I'm leaning towards Spain for this, but maybe it's Italian?

The bowl is about 13.5" diameter x 3 1/2" tall.

    Thank you!

Neither: that's Arabic script above the initials. Could be North African, although it looks rather Egyptian in style.

Hi, OBB! Yes, I think you are right. Would the term "hispano moresque" fit it? It seems similar when I look at Google images.

    Thanks for your help!

Hispano Moresque would be correct. The design is very much in the Moorish style, particularly that of the wares coming from the great pottery center of Safi in Morocco.
The moslems took the design with them when they invaded Spain. Your bowl is really nicely done. The colors are crisp and the elements of the design are sharp and not muddled together. I believe it may be late 19th century.

Isn't that a cross on top of a tower in the plate?

I first thought it was russian, but Golt sounds hungarian or german.

No, I don't see any crosses. The decoration does look faintly Islamic to me. But, alot of Spanish decoration has that flavor, too. The image in the center almost looks like some sort of stylized ship.

    Thanks!

I see three doors and three distinctive architectural objects with a cross on top.
I am googling Hispano Moresque as well and this doesnt look like anything remotely

Oh, yes, I can see your perspective on the three doors. The cross you are seeing at the top is shorter and wider than normal, right?

Thanks for the compliment on the logo. I'll pass that along to my daughter who designed it. :)

The more I look at it, the more it looks like a mosque in the center. Is there some sort of place of worship that would be Islamic in style but have a cross at the top (if that is a cross at the top)?

It would have a crescent moon, if a mosque. However, there are many many mixed places of worship in Europe, Africa and Asia. Roman amphitheatres became basilicae, then mosques, then churches. Same with synagogues.

It's not Golt, it's read right to left, Arabic.

I dont think its arabic. I know a little arabic. I can see why you may think that. If you can read that arab writing please do and let us know what it says
