benbenny007 I buy rubbish, and sell antiques

Have this walking stick which appears to habe a bone handle. Im not so fimilair with Asian clothing and hairstyles. Is it Chinese or Japanese? The handle shows two man and possibly a burning house with maybe a mountain or tree and flowers. One of them has the hair in Japanese warior style?? I would like to know what story the images tell. Maybe also a date and which bone? Any input is welcome.

    Thank you

    Hi benbenny

It's very cool looking, but I'd check for more evidence of wear or age on the cane and the tip. The material under the chips looks very white (right edge of the third image). Maybe it was never used, but I don't see the wear of a hand.

The vertical marks below the knob suggest bone, but there are a couple of small divots on them that look like hot needle marks. Some of these faux ivory/bone items are cast and detailed by hand.

Doesn't mean it's not old, just what i see.

Lots of people on here can tell you more about this kind of symbology - i wont name 'em cuz i don't want to leave anyone out, but trust me - they're out there.

Japanese export, with 'Oriental' themes that Westerners would like. You also get them with 1000 faces (actually 10-20).
Wow scoutshouse, my compliments, you're a true diplomat;).

The pagoda looks a bit Western, maybe they also made them in the West as 'Japonaiserie'.
