Featured Walker & Hall silver plate tea set

    I snaffled these yesterday. Perhaps what partly attracted me to them is their crispness and lack of wear. They are also made from quite a thick gauge metal which gives them a satisfying chunkiness. Not sure what the base metal might be but it is very sonant. They look a bit art deco but I think that the W flag on the base dates them to 1949. Online explanations of dates seem a bit vague.

    Probably restaurant ware. The 2 pts marking is a clue.

    Ah okay. Thanks. Corresponding marks on the jug and sugar bowl of 10ozs and 14ozs.

    It might explain the repetitive small marks on the side of the teapot. Maybe it was repeatedly struck against the side of a hot water geyser or such like when being filled.

    My first instinct was restaurant ware as well. Need sturdy and heavy in restaurant to hold up to abuse.

    W is 1949 and Y is 1951 in W&H's private date coding system.
