Hello everyone - picked up this paperweight but unsure if it's signed or not. 2 7/8" across and about 1 7/8" tall. Is there a term for the drizzled glass thread on the top? Any information regarding maker also appreciated. It looks like there might be a very stylized W or maybe an Arabic or Hebrew symbol drawn in the pontil. Or it could just be something that happened in the making? Thanks much!
    Don

    Hi Don,
That is a real beauty. I am looking for one that I had years ago that jumped into the pocket of a visitor. It was crystal with 8 windows, it was a lion on a purple field.

I believe that's the Levay Glass mark. I can't exactly tell from the photo, but is this the mark?

    Levay Glass - says Levi.jpg

The rendering above is from butchiedog_gone_it's glass marks collection (he was a regular on the old eBay board, in case you aren't familiar). The mark says "Levi", and was used by Gary Levi, who founded Levay Glass Studio.

This blog has a good overview of the company history, with examples:

It also discusses the Anton Intaglio glass pieces, which he was involved in with along with another glass artist. This is that mark, should you ever run across it:

Thanks, all! I do believe it is that first Levay mark that UncleChuckTX posted. And I had forgotten all about butchiedog_gone's site. When I checked out the Glass House suggestion I came across the very similar Levay weights but all I could find was the second mark.

That paperweight sounds beautiful, Greg. I'll keep my eye out for it. The only windowed weights we find around here, though, tend to be St. Clair or Baccarat.

Thank you all for your help! Don
