Last couple minutes of a sale I showed up hoping to score some silver and it was all gone. Couldn’t leave this sitting in the basement for some reason and dragged it on home. I think it’s pretty cool. We’ll see if anyone wants to vote with their local dollars though. Too big and heavy for me to bother shipping. I assume Francis A II is the ship but it didn’t help me find the actual ship it’s based on. Anyone know? Looks the artists is E? Smith? Scored a cpl old Imari pieces, an Allman Bros record, and Steven King hardcover too. Hardly a killer haul but I hate to go home empty handed. 315430F8-9707-4EDA-8E11-429C57907AC6.jpeg 2FEE6CED-E99D-4283-9CB9-C2E1174C83F4.jpeg BCFDF5FA-D1F4-45D5-9EE7-17EBE8C0620F.jpeg

Very cool piece - I really like it! Lack of normal sails probably shows artistic expression and nothing acurate to history.

A four mast schooner, no? Perhaps it was a commissioned piece as a specific boat.

Wowzas on the price of the second piece. It’s much more detailed than mine and I’m guessing somewhat unrealistic. I don’t have a bid square account. Any idea what those sold for? Thanks for finding these. I had no idea what to call them. Was just searching wood art and finding some stuff but not this artist. I was going to try to squeeze 100-200 out of it hoping someone liked it as general nautical decor. Maybe just maybe I can get more with a name!

Could be. I was thinking Francis A II had to be a reference to something historical. Could be made up would just be oddly specific for fantasy I think. I didn’t realize the sails weren’t normal but I’m no pro on historic ships.

The Bidsquare pieces are described as "Reclaimed wood wall art."

Seems to be a prolific artist. Those # do appear to be a sequential numbering of his work.

Yep, it is old lath. Our house was built in the 1870’s and every time we remodel a room we end up with hundreds of feet of it. Our plaster is made out of lime and horse hair!

I have owned several pieces by a craftsman named Theodore Degroot, he worked in the same style.

Thanks. Oddly it shows up when you Google search but before you click the link. Once you click the link it asks for a membership. So when I clicked Deb’s link I couldn’t see it but when I looked at my own Google search I could. I don’t know if my description makes sense but yeh….

He is quite good at it. The end sail on mine fades a bit to my eye but I like it a lot. Clearly takes a unique vision and skill to accomplish these. That one with three homes on bidsquare is beautiful.
