Vintage slant top wall box with support brackets, age guesses ?

Hi Everyone, I hope you can tell by my lousy pictures just how old this wall box is.
It's a slanted top and measures 16+1/2" wide x 8+1/2" deep and 5+1/2" tall at the back. There are two brackets to attach it to the wall, it seems to have SOME age to it.
What do you think, high school shop class project from the 1970's ?

Really impossible to tell age on this but I doubt it is terribly old based on the wear, hinges, and finish nails. Those brackets appear to be tenoned so probably purchased from an outside source for the project. Your 70s guess is as good as any.

Probably used as a dispatcher's desk - located near an entrance, used for paper work regarding the in and out of merchandise, people, spirits, gnomes, spiders, etc.

 

It's quite nice & shows honest wear.
I'd say earlier than 70's......
