I recently found this art deco pot with some kind of early psychedelic decoration, was wondering what it purpose was specifically why it was the raised circles in the base, maybe missing something $_57 - 2021-08-18T103733.677.jpg $_57 - 2021-08-18T103704.996.jpg $_57 - 2021-08-18T103718.149.jpg $_57 - 2021-08-18T103644.052.jpg

    I believe it’s a soap dish.

Looks like an early 20th century dinner service my grandparents used to have.

I was expecting this kind of decoration:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

That makes sense regarding use for the internal ridges. Did soap dishes have lids?

I've seen similar bowl things before that had another piece inside with straining holes, the ridge look a bit shallow like it would fill with water, but it seems like a strange idea anyway

    Yes,
my experience with what is depicted is for bar soap. Some, as stated b4 have another tray with holes that the water would drip under and thus dry the bar. Shaving soap would usually be in a deep cup sometimes with a holder fro the brush to hang. In my limited experience and research of my items.
