I picked up this cute little bank yesterday. It is not marked but has the raised ridges like you see on Royal Copley pieces. Does anyone have a reference book that they can look it up or does anyone recognize the make of this piece?

    It is 4 1/2" tall, 5 3/4" long & 4 1/2" across.

    Hi Peggy,
It is a good guess. I remember on the old e boards about a cookie jar that really looked like your bank. It had the wider wedges. It is a cute bank I love the eyebrows.

Sierra Vista, a California pottery company, produced cookie jars and, I think, banks called Tuggle the tugboat in the 1940's. Yours looks a lot like theirs but it should be marked and it should have the word "Tuggle" on the hull. Might give you a place to start though.

Oh. I forgot - I checked my Royal Copley book (Schneider) but could not find it there.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It is cute... I smiled the instant the picture came onto my screen.

    Thanks Don!!

It does look like the Sierra Vista model, but it definitely does not have Tuggle on the side.

I think it is adorable too!!!

    Thanks janettekay!!!

I guess I'll just list it as a pottery bank & hope someone else thinks it cute or it may end up at the booth. :p

As a very young boy my mother bought me both the Tuggle cookie jar and the matching bank - both by Sierra Vista. Sadly the bank was stolen in a robbery. The bank was a smaller version of the jar and was maker marked on the bottom and had the name Tuggle on the bow. I would dearly love to find a replacement. Good luck, Bob Thomas
