Hi there. Can you or someone you who can identify the metal (silver?) pair of (I'm assuming) shoe buckles. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated, David buckle-as1.jpg

These are interesting. Sorry, I can't help, though. Do they have a mark?

Look like cut steel studs, a closer up pic would help.

That's definitely an option, Bluumz. My eyes assumed the other direction.

That could be too. The rotated picture was not there when I posted.

On the back or bottom of objects, there can be an impressed, etched, engraved, etc. mark with the maker's logo or the artist's signature. In searching down your treasures' origin and date, these marks are crucial. There can also be sterling or gold marks too. Always show them here.

Seriously cool to have your initials on your shoes :hilarious:. I see S & A too. I think @kyratango is the expert on deciphering old initials.
Can we see a photo of the back?

:joyful: My « expert » eye :hilarious: see S and A.

@bytebit can you show the case? It seems a 18th century one, perhaps shagreen.

Thanks for your inquiry. Can you or someone you know who can decipher the markings? I think it is English and the lion represents Stirling Silver.

@bytebit please can you go back and edit your post by clicking ‘ full image’ beside your photos? Then they appear full size not in thumbnails.
If you can, can you clean the hallmarks a bit so they are clearer?Thankyou :)
