Have had this large format photo print mounted on cardboard for several years and never researched it. Have not removed from frame. I tried to include more closeups and pics of the back in my post, but I’m posting from an iPad now, and haven’t figured out how to resize. Pic of two men outside a cabin, with mountains.

Anyway, back shows mounted with old wood slats and old newspaper underneath. Seems to have been mounted early 20th century, looks to be from the US with advertising. M.B. Sumner in one of the ads. Also failed to measure print, but it is about 18 inches.

Clearly I should take it apart, but hoping to see whether image is known prior to doing so.

I have absolutely no skills at image matching, but I did try google image match with no success. So can anyone say whether this is a known image, or where it was taken. Yosemite is my guess, but just a guess. IMG_0454.jpeg IMG_0457.jpeg

That's pretty high for Yosemite. If U.S., Rockies would be more likely, I'd think. But looks more like Alps to my eye (although the cabin looks a bit rustic for Switzerland.)

Thank you, Debora, quite right, and not Yosemite. Looks like a glacial valley? in the Alps maybe? Pretty sure framed in the US and quite some time ago. Part of ads: “opera cloaks and walking jackets in great variety”. I have never spent time in either the alps or Rockies so I’m pretty clueless. Cabin is all wood with stone foundation.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Most photos of Yosemite highlight the valley, or the unusual rock formations like Half Dome and El Capitan. Not saying that it isn't, but I don't see a valley there? That doesn't mean anything. Could also be the American or Canadian Rockies, or the Alps, as has been mentioned. Or maybe the Cascade range in the Pacific Northwest.

I love this image and am attracted to photos like this. Not the type I collect, though lots of people do.

Why do you suppose they moved up there?

I would think it's a mountain hut for hikers, trekkers, etc.
