Found a group of vintage boy scout items, I think from the early 60's, and this belt was in the box with the scout items. I don't think it has anything to do with scouting....does it? It's a small size (total length 31") and looks like it would be for a child. Maybe it was just a costume piece or something I don't know?
Anyway, would this belt be called a cumberbun? or is there another term?, And finally how would you describe the metal decoration on the front? Thanks for your time.

    I think it is a 1970s woman's belt.
Back then I had a 24" waist. So 31" would be in line with average sizing back then. Oh, those were the days

A cummerbund is usually made of fabric, since the origin of the word was the waist sash worn in India.

I can't see any wear from use, can you?

Thanks cluttered and bakers! LOL cluttered:D
Bakers that's what I thought about cummerbund, that they were usually fabric. I can't find any similar leather belts styled this way. I've seen a few that buckle in front, but not in back?, and the metal decoration seems odd, doesn't it?
No, it doesn't really look used other than some tarnish on the metal buckles.

It looks rather like the belts they give as boxing trophies.

The Lonsdale belt but for champion of the township rather than the world.

    Think Age of Aquarius.
Peasant style blouse, long skirt, belt buckled in the back Renaissance style.
    Leather boots.
Gees, we knew how to dress with style.
Oh how I am dating myself

And if you found it with Boy Scout stuff, maybe it was used for a skit.
    Pirate?

Af, thank you, I agree it does look similar to that style of belt. Definitely not for a world championship, LOL:D;).
Thanks again cluttered, now I have that song in my head.....The Age of Aquarious! But how I can picture what you're saying now though, with the skirt & boots!

Thanks messi, yes it is well made, that's why I'm thinking not a costume, it just seems "not cheezy", like a costume normally is. Oh, and now that I took a closer look, I can see there was some use. There are buckle marks on 3 of the holes for the buckle. So, someone wore it more than once. Here are pics of how the emblem is attached. Thanks again everyone.:cat:
