    Hello everyone!

Here's the urn that we had mentioned in a new thread. We found out that it is English ( has a stamp under the spout) but we are still not sure about the type of pattern. This urn has Jewish markings on it and is labeled "SW Temple"

Any info on the pattern is greatly appreciated!

All I can say with any real knowledge is that it is NOT a samovar, you are correct calling it an urn. It was probably from the "kitchen" of a temple (same as with the any church) - when the ladies of Hadassah meet to organize the charitable events.........nice piece! Can you locate the temple?

Should have added that if you are looking for the temple, keep in mind that temples usually moved with the members when a neighborhood changed, BUT they usually changed names because they combined a number of smaller temples from the "old" neighborhood when they went to the suburbs, etc.

Images of the complete inscription and mark?

I didn't see the previous post - is it plate? :)

It could be a lot of different "temples." Mormon, Jewish, Masonic...Or South West Temple.

Don't know much about patterns. :(

The inscription on the front and a clear shot of the marks would help. Or maybe Marx, since itls Jewish...? (I get a little Groucho when I can't read an inscription.)

On the other thread (about the lazy susan,) Studio showed a corner of this, hoping I could ID the décor pattern. But she said there were no marks on it. Obviously something has been found, but we've never seen it.

Such a slow reveal, right? :)

Give us more photos, and don't be stingy, baby.

(I didn't notice the "Jewish marks" remark - oops)

There is one area under the spout which is stamped "made in England" other than that, we've got this inscription here, but nothing else DSC_1505 (1).JPG

Well, I'm going to suggest that the meaning of the inscription is that the ladies of the Sis Hayim Circle gave this urn to Temple Beth Torah in the mid-1960's.

Probably not critical, since studio's only asking for pattern info - but just wanted to see more, so thanks!

Hey, Studio Antiques, did you duck under the table so just your hands are reflected? Very cute, phantom photographer!

    Hi, bakersgma :)

Studio, are you perchance in the L.A. area? (I'm sorry, I just don't remember...)

There's a S.W. Temple Beth Torah at 14725 S Gramercy in Gardena. I'm thinking (like others before me here) that it was used for coffee for after-services events & the like within the congregation.

Sounds feasible. I don't think we get Beth Torah here.
