    Hello all,

I recently bought this vide poche (leaded pewter?), and would like to know the age and origin. I can't find any name/mark on it. Any idea?
(for some reason my computer keeps saving the images rotated ... :arghh:)

It was sold as art deco, so thank you for the confirmation that my initial thought, that this was art nouveau, was correct.
Can the name/mark be hard to find, and do I need to take a better look? Or is it normal that such pieces have no name at all?

It might not, but it looks to me like there might be a few letters just below the lowest swoop of grass, on the right,

For a moment I thought you were right, but it seems to be blades of grass

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

@Marote, Actually, I was looking at what I thought were letters, MORE to the RIGHT!! I'm waiting 'til Friday for my computer tech guy to see if he can tell me why my programs aren't 'up to snuff'......so I had difficulty trying to enlarge it....but marked in RED where I'm referring to.....plus where I drew a GREEN line, it looked like there was writing just above it along the 'swirl'.....I also lightened/brightened it a bit....you might want to use a loupe on it......

Your image is playing tricks on us! Looking at that image it does indeed look like letters, but in reality nothing is visible there. Probably only some colour differences caused by dirt and some minor scratches.
I took another look at it up close, and was starting to see letters in various places, but zooming out, they all turned out to be part of the design (water lilies and ripples) :(. Tomorrow I will take another good look with the loupe again

Dutch people of the period refered to it as spaghetti.;) Overhere Art Nouveau is often called "spaghetti and salad oil style", because of a well known 1894 Dutch ad for salad oil which featured an abundance of whiplash motifs.

Similar to Kaysarzinn, Orivit, WMF, and others. These companies usually marked their ware but not always.
