Victorian sofa

Found this super cool sofa online....really am tempted.

Victorian style (??)

My question: for resale should i keep original or might it be worth it to have it reupholstered? I have a lady in town who reupholsters for a very reasonable price. Might be worthwhile, or destroy any value it may have??

It's just that that white upholstery looks a bit funk-aayyyy.....

 

White is not original and would appeal to few. Not a piece I would consider for resale, even with different upholstery. Victorian sofas are a hard sell these days.

 

I know I'm hesitant....however I do live in a town w a lot of Victorian houses....so that's where I'm considering the gamble lol!

 

If my objective were resale, I wouldn't reupholster it.

Reupholstering will cost far more than it’s worth, which on a good day in my part of the US would be in the $200 neighborhood.
The usual advice from realtors when selling a house is not to repaint in anticipation of a sale, but to let the new owner repaint to their taste. That is, unless the paint is in disastrous condition. I’d say the same for this sofa.
