Not exactly sure what this is. Help with style and age would be great. I took it out of the frame, too much glare with the glass. It's painted on thin velvet paper. Almost looks heavily spray painted in spots. Is she anyone in particular?

And any ideas on how to clean the dust and lint off the velvet? Thanks for any help at all.

Taking it out of the frame is not helpful for dating. Nor is removing the original backing. Please post photographs of both. (Also you should be able to edit your original post to remove duplicate photographs.)

It was put back in the frame. Backing is just brown paper. I didn't realize it was on velvet until I took it out. I usually don't take things apart, but I didn't think this one would be too much of a problem. Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate the help. I hope these other pics help.

From the frame and mat, I would think that's 1950s-ish. Let's see what others say.

How about this one, from the same temple complex -

Both sculptures are described as depicting removing thorns from her foot. These are quite tame contortions compared to some on the same temples. ;)
