Various necklaces

I picked up this selection for not a lot. Just wondered if there are any interesting pieces or if it is just a load of ultra modern poop. The larger butterfly with enamel on the wings is obviously a modern piece as it has a brand tag on it. The rest I haven't a clue.

 

Lobster clasps always mean modern to me.

Yep. Lobster claws are mostly post-1990. There were a few earlier, but you can spot them in a blind minute. These necklaces are pretty, but all look like what I call "mall jewelry - sold by one of those chain "pretty pretty" accessory stores in shopping malls.

 

That's what I would think too (re mall accessory store.) One has a hang tag? What does it read?

A chain of mall stores as above. The brand was established in 1984 so that's your earliest date (although IMHO that's much to early.)

Okay maybe we should start another forum for bling. All the chains are about 38cm long so prob donated by the same person. Reasonable to assume they came from similar sources

 

They're certainly examples of the same taste. And some would be pretty worn layered.

Just a note about lobster clasps- sometimes, but rarely, older clasps do end up being replaced with newer clasps, sometimes people also remove 14k and sterling clasps and replace them with costume lobster clasps. But your lovely pieces are newer.

Yup. Or an old clasp will get reused on a new necklace. Clasps break.
