USA Pottery Ringed Mixing Bowl

Mint green color ringed mixing bowl, marked USA 12. Measures 9 1/2" wide and is 4 1/2" deep.

 

I think it's a Bauer, @ 1940... let me look around.

 

#12 and all. They called it "Beehive".

I thought Bauer was marked Bauer.
If not then that yellow one I got and showed here recently may be as well...

 

Hey Gila, that is what I thought at first but there are differences. The rings on the Bauer bowl are more rounded while mine are more like steps. Might be Bauer but I am not sure.

 

Hmmmmm... well, there had to be variations in the finishing process... sanding, painting... and the #12... I vote Bauer... (hoping!!! And I really like it!)

So an imitator would go so far as to forge the #12?????????? Hmmmmm...

I don't thibk this is new or a fake per say. I do believe that it is an older bowl. Like most items, if they sell well there will be other companies making something that looks similiar. This is decent quality, but there are differences. The shape and number of rings, also the USA has periods in between the letters, while the Bauer does not. I think it is older but not made by Bauer.

 

Morton also made a stepped mixing bowl. Might be another avenue to explore.

I have one too, passed to me from my grandmother. I love it!!! I have a 12 and USA as well.
