I recently picked up the very unusual green drip glaze planter at a flea market here in NC. My first guess was Hull but didn't see it either of my 2 Hull books. I also did a google image search with no luck. So, I came here with hat in hand begging for help :) The planter measures about 10 1/2" long x 6" wide x 4 1/2" at highest point. Can't find any kind of mark. No numbers or even USA. [IMG]

reminds me a bit of Blue Mountain Pottery (Canadian) I don't think all of it was signed but was labelled. I may well be wrong..just a guess

Hmmm, I don't believe I have ever seen any BMP like this before. I'll check into them. Thanks for the lead.

    Maybe it is florist's stock.
    Haeger make many of those?

When first say the glaze, I thought McCoy florist. But you would know that better than I would.

Who had those unglazed bars on the bottom?
Stangl?, who were they associated with?
Sorry, not doing well with memory today. Spring has sprung and my head is completely clogged.

Hi Pat. there were several potteries that had runners on the bottom. Royal Copley comes to mind but I checked there also. I don't think McCoy had a glaze like this that can recall ever seeing.

    Hi Carl -
Yes Royal Copley was the one I couldn't think of.

If I remember when I get to the store, I'll look through my CA Pottery books.

    Hi,
McCoy had more rounded wedges on the bottom.

The bottom looks like American Bisque

I thought AB bottoms were wedge shape. I'll check my AB book just in case. Thanks for the lead Mary. Then again I reckon the 2 middle runners could be considered wedge shape.

I'm leaning towards Leeds Pottery. Leeds was a pottery distributor based in Chicago. They had a contract with Disney. If you google Bambi pottery planter the first image that comes up should be a planter with a glaze that looks something like yours. The trouble is that Leeds Pottery could have been produced by any of a dozen companies. I'm sorry I can't be more definitive.

Checked my AB book with no luck. Will check online.

Thanks Don. Will check into Leeds. It seems that one of my books mentions Leeds but can't recall which one.

The glaze is the same Don. Leeds is as good as guess as any. Thanks

There's a short section on Leeds Pottery near the end of your American Bisque book.

Hmm, that is where I saw it Don :D That explains why we are seeing the wedge runners on this piece. I would be willing to be it was produced by AB for Leeds.
