Unsure if the ashtray was made in germany but....

Can you help with this ? I would love to know what kind of metal it is quite heavy inner shell fits inside the outer

 

Could be plated stainless steel,check it with a magnet.

So it is plated red brass/bronze depending on the amount of tin in the alloy.
