unknown maker's mark on pearl necklace

    That does look very close. I'm surprised: the necklace doesn't look as old in style as those dates. I'd surmise they just made the clasp.

    Byard F. Brogan is still in business, but seems they've never used freshwater pearls.

    just an update...i spoke to people at Byard Brogan. They definitely made the necklace and they think the pearls are almost definitely freshwater from Biwa Lake in Japan. They would need to see it in person to be sure. (Guess I was wrong about them not using freshwater). The necklace is at least 20 years old and may be closer to 50 years old. Thank you all for your help and interest!

    The style is very mid eighties to early nineties, so that makes sense. They're not typical Biwa pearls: I've got some, they're larger and longer, again big in the nineties.
