Anyone know anything about this one? My father had this one in his workshop. He had told me one time he got it from one of his shipmates. I do not know if he meant when he was in WWII or after. Thank you for any info illusionart.jpg illusionsig.jpg

Sorry, don't know. But it looks ca. 1890-1900, the smoke is probably the signature, O E or O P.
Reminds me of the famous Freud print:

There are some things that should perhaps be viewed later in the day.

Or, at least after one has had one's coffee...

    I'll go start mine now.

Just noticed the mark in the bottom right hand corner, looks like it says ELD.

Would have been an old-fashioned thing by World War II.

    The size would help.

Thank you for the information. The size is 8 3/4" x 12 1/2". Looks like mine was cut to fit a frame because the title of it is missing. I am pretty sure my father did not cut it. He collected things and knew the importance of not cutting a title off. The back of it has no writing just plain white.

Sorry Silver lol I wanted to put a warning in the title but it wouldn't fit :)

Most of the guys didn't mind much, and it's hard for us females to get upset about women who are long dead of old age.

Looks a bit like the work of Icelandic artist Einar Jonsson.

We visited the museum in Reykjavik. If it is Jonsson's work, it could be quite valuable. The US military base in Keflavik was established during WWII and was just decommissioned a few years ago. My husband was in the Iceland Defense Force Joint Reserve Unit for four years and we spent quite a lot of time over there.

The only thing I'm skeptical of is the cigarette.
